It's definitely not true as such - the costs for such programs can be very steep, which is why you often hear of people paying back ridiculous amounts of student loans.

However, it IS true that many graduate programs will offer enough funding to partially or completely cover the tuition costs of their students. In this regard, it pays to do your research and shop around to find which institutions are willing to offer you the most money. There are also outside scholarship and fellowship programs that can help you finance your education. Good luck!
