my plans for the drivetrain are...383 stroker, tremec six speed, 12 bolt wit 4.11's and an auburn posi unit.

i wanna put it on an s10 frame cuz they r easier to find, and its practically set up for a sbc and rear wheel drive.

The Cavalier is a uni-body construction, so it does not have a separate frame. You may be able to adapt a Cavalier to sit on an S-10 frame, but you are looking at a major project.

Not only would the frame have to be shortened, but as the previous two people mentioned, this would be quite a major undertaking. Shortening the frame would also require brake lines to be shortened, drive shaft would have to be shortened as well. Then we haven't begun to think about the width of the vehicles. If the S10 is wider then you would have tires sticking out from under the body, which would throw rocks, mud, etc on the body while driving. If the S10 is too narrow, then you would have the potential of tire rub when you turn in a tight turn. Plus as one mentioned, the Cavalier is a unibody, and adapting a unibody to a frame is a bit of an undertaking. Another thing with shortening the frame is the emergency brake cables. Depending on where the equalizer for the cables hangs, and where the frame is shortened, that would quite possibly cause the emergency brake cables to be too long and result in the emergency brake being of no effect since it wouldn't work. And let's not even think about the headaches involved with the steering column, and getting it adapted.
Bottom line is this: if YOU can do the cutting, welding, wrenching AND have the spare time to morph the two, GO FOR IT. If you have to pay to have this done, well, you know what they say about a fool and his money...

I agree the cav body on a vega would be sweet and probably easier than putting the body on a s10. Why exactly do you want to rebody a s10 as a cavalier??? well if memory serves the s10 is a unibody and the cav is definitely a unibody yes you would have to shorten the frame or stretch the body but it would be interesting you should keep us updated

With any amount of money, it could be done. Yes, it would have to be shortened, but why may I ask do you want to put a cavalier body on an s-10 frame of all things? Throw it on a vega frame, would make a killer race car. Or just build an F-body.
