Philosophy is dynamic - even opposite views can be equally argued for. Even though Maths too is abstract, it is rather fixed in character - yes it is a 'dead'-ly science.

The entire world is run by Mathematics. How can you think it is dead. Without numbers you would not be reading this text which is based upon the Binary system of Mathematics. When you think about the things that involve mathematics. You will realize that Mathematics is very much alive.

There is a popular author who writes on the topic of mathematics. His name is Keith Devlin. A few years ago he wrote a book entitled: "The Math Gene: How mathematical thinking evolved and why numbers are like gossip."

His latest book is entitled: "The Millennium Problems: the seven greatest unsolved mathematical puzzles of our time."

If anyone solves one of these seven problems (you have to be a mathematician), the person can win a one million dollar prize. The problems are listed at

How can something be dead which never had a life? Mathematics merely allows us to examine adstract concepts which would be impossibel otherwise. If you don't like mathematics and the insights it gives, then that's your choice.

list the reasons for your feelings, count them.
Take that number, divide it by 4, then multiply that 17 times.
Next, find the natural logirythm of that number and divide your birth year by that, add how old you are, divide again by 4, and voila!
See?
