In today's society, a man is not required to provide for the family, and a woman is not required to look after the family. I'd say that both men and women have difficulties which way equally. Women have more options for how they behave on a gender scale. However, the socialization of men is measured with a much tighter scale, and to be act slightly feminine is usually unacceptable.
Women can also be very critical of others, but at the same time, they usually are sympathetic. Men are not always as critical, but they are usually taught to be emotionally unavailable.
Of course, these are generalities. I'd say that each are equally difficult or equally easy in modern industrialized societies. I think that in some cultures, it would be more difficult to be a woman than a man, especially when the women have to be subordinate to men and have no choice over their bodies, their appearance, and the decisions.

If "harder" is understood w.r.t. challenges and effort, then it really all depends on the individual. Some people avoid all challenges and sacrifices, and make the minimum effort in a negative and complaining spirit, while others see challenges as opportunities and work very hard to accept opportunities positively.
Some women neglect their children (or have none at all), neglect the home, and simply watch TV like ER all day, play all day with fun, expensive crafts projects, or shop all day at the mall buying things which are far beyond their "means." Those are not a very "hard" lifestyles.
Some men neglect their families by refusing to hold a steady job, by getting drunk right after work and sitting in front of the TV or computer all evening, or by hanging out at the bars all the time, etc. etc. Those are not a very "hard" lifestyles, either.
So men sometimes provide minimally for the families (hence poverty), and some women neglect appearance, avoid the monthly cycle with "the pill," and avoid child birth with birth control and even, God forbid!, abortion.
The question of effort and sacrifice isn't about gender at all, but about individual motivation, industry, and responsibility. Those who effectively engage these three pillars have the harder life in terms of effort, but also the most important, most fulfilling, and most rewarding. The converse is also true.

It is hard and easy for a man or a woman. This is why we are made different. When we are combined as a couple, male and female we become one. Where one is weak the other is strong and vise versa. We each have different obligations or roles placed on us at birth depending on male or female. A man is the provider of the family, he goes out and makes the money for the family to survive. A woman is responsible for raising the kids, taking care of the home and being a supportive counterpart to the man. Each role is hard and easy at the same time.
The main thing is to be happy with whoever you are male or female. Appreciate the differences that we are and make the best of the relationships you have. This life is a one way ticket.

If this aint the most obvious question lve ever read. Lets look at a few things, women's genitals, they have to squat to pee, menstruate, they have mood swings because of the estrogen and prgesterone levels during the cycles and painful cramps. What do men have? Aside from being horny all the time absolutelty nothing. Women are taught to be totally consumed with their body image, so do men? Naw, not on the same level, do men wear makeup? Get expensive long houred hair appointments? Get their nails done? l didnt think so, and dont give me the some do excuse. Do men have to wear heels? Naw, anyone who knows anything about social science should know women have it harder, its in text books for crying out loud, women have more stressors ona daily basis, come on lets be real its women.

In this day and age, I think it is definitely harder to be a woman. Take my girlfriend for instance, she holds down two jobs and still has my dinner on the table at 5pm. She also cleans the house a couple of times a week when I'm not watching television. I'm not working right now, so I am so grateful to have her. To show my appreciation I planted a little bambino in her and in about 8 months she'll have a little boy to take care of. It better be a boy!
Yes, I would say women have it tougher, but with the right attitude they can love every minute of it.

A woman is also obligated to provide for her family. I wouldn't assume that men have it easier than women, it's a battle just to survive these days for everyone.

It seems hard to be a woman, but what about for boys, they have to prove they're tough. For a WOMAN it's harder, I say, and growing up- it seems there are cons and pros in either column

i'd say both! women are having babies and taking care of them and worrying about their future, while dudes work their butts off trying to make sure the woman has money for food to cook for the family and to buy them clothes and everything else....
so i think if everyone just WORKED TOGETHER the world would be easier for us all!!!
