Yesterday I cut my hand (between the thumb and index finger) and it is itchy.
I have a huge bandage on my hand.
I have to the gp on friday.
I have a question to any Dr.'s or Med Students.
I have to go to the GP in 2-3 days after and in 3 weeks again. I am a bit confused, because I was out of it at the time.
I got the stiches at the hospital and they rushed me out right after, so I was unsure of what they said. DO I remove the stiches in 3 days or just the bandages? Is it ok that it's itchy less than 24 hrs after. I've kept it dry.

I am not a Dr. or a Med student but I know that you change the bandage in 3 days. You don't touch the stitches other than to clean them. Itching out a cut or a damaged area are signs that your hand has begun the healing process. When ever possible, keep the bandage off if you are going to be idle and there is no chance of you get any foreign objects in it. May God Bless. (my son had to have stitches in his hand after surgery. That's how I know)

Go to the doctors in 2-3 days to get it checked (make sure it looks clean, not infected etc) then in 3 weeks to get the stitches out. It isn't usually that long, but where you have injured takes longer to heal. As far as itching goes, it will drive you nuts but it's a good sign that it's healing.

It will itch where it is healing. The bandage may be stopping the air which wont help too much. I would remove the bandage in 3 days and go to the doc. I had a c-section last november and removed the bandage after 24 hours and had the stitches removed 5 days after so i would say if you go to the doc they will check them and remove them on the 3rd day and the 3 week is just a check up to make sure everything is ok. But call the doc to make sure!

NO! Don't remove the stitches -- just the bandage. That's probably what the GP will do in 3 weeks.

Yes, it's OK that it itches. That's the flesh healing up.

Itchy is a good sign that its getting better, as annoying as it is the last response is absolutely right. Leave well alone!!

Itching is a good sign. Your body is healing itself and this is its way of telling you to be focused on your wound and look after it.
