While i love to be near my children and grandchildren I have my life too and they get upset when i live far away and I do not want to hurt their feelings. I get half the income in Idaho on social security than in california. California is rite across the border from Mexico where my huband lives and who knows how long it will take to process his papers. He and I have been togather a long time too. also I have arthritis and scoliosis of the spine and the cold weather hurts. Il'd love to come and visit every year but they are upset with me for wanting to live so far away. What should I do?
also they are upset because they do not like the church i belong to and i feel they should just be happy i love jesus and god.

they sound annoying. Live your life the way you want. Are they changing their situation for you? They want you to bend for them. Do what you need to for you.

I am 60 years old. In that time I have experienced 4 wars(fought in one of the-Vietnam), I have been cheated, beaten up, robbed, had several accidents, watched numerous people that I cared for die before their time and seen others who should have died live on forever and make lives miserable for others. Yeah, things are " scary", but its always been that way. Read our history and you will see that parents have always had challenges. Kids learn by example. So to raise good kids, set a good example. Don't use drugs, chat on your spouse, etc. The world is no more dangerous now than it was 50, 100, or 2000 years ago. Just different dangers that's all.

They may have other reasons than what you state.
Why not simply move to Mexico to be with your lover?
Social Security isnt based on where you live, but rather how much you've earned during your years of employment.

You should follow your heart. Your children have their own lives to live, and should let you live yours. We only have one life and nobody should dictate what we should do with it. You sacrificed yourself raising them, you should not sacrifice your happiness and health to just to make them happy. Tell them you love them all so very much, but you really need to do this for your health and own well being. Trust in your faith to get you through this. I know it will not be easy.

Do not let them change your mind!!!
We only have one life to live!
They are upset about the church you go too. None of their business......Your life!!!!!!
I know you love your children, however, please do not let them try to control your life......
Now, it's your life........they are grown.....Go for it and be happy!!
You will be......I know for sure. and for sure, get away from the cold weather.....You are the Adult...............Just stand up for yourself....It's your life now!!!! You are free....Please now, think about yourself and be happy and hopefully less pain.
