THE REAL HALLOWEEN
TREAT … OR TRICK?
'The Druid priests believed that the dead returned to their original homes that night and if food and shelter wasn’t forthcoming the evil spirits would respond by casting wicked spells on those who refused them.
The Celts offered sacrifices to these "dead spirits" and it was believed that if they were happy with what they were given they would leave you alone. Otherwise you were in trouble and horrible consequences would ensue. The Druids would go from house to house demanding gifts and cursing anyone who denied them. This is the origin of the modern-day "trick or treat".'
hope that helped

I'm answering from America. It is a day that people dress up in costumes of all types. Some of the costumes that are popular are Ninja, Angels, Cheerleaders, Pirates, Pumpkins, Witches, Spider man, Superman, Hobo's, Casper the friendly ghost, Scary ghost's, devils. Most children wear friendly costume but some of the older people like to wear the more scary costumes. The parents take their children door to door in the neighborhood and the neighbors give treats. (mostly candy) They have marches at school or down the streets, showing off their costumes. They have party's (mostly the adults) It's meant to be fun. They can dress up and be someone else for a day. They also have spook alley's that are scary. Some people get a kick out of being scared. We had about 50 kids come to our house for treats tonight. We gave, candy bars and suckers for treats. We took pictures of some of the kids that had neat costumes. It's is a big money maker for the stores, the costume manufactures and the candy makers. Hope this helps. It's all about fun and is usually supervised by parents.

Since America is such a witch's melting pot of all different cultures, the Hispanic culture has had there religious holiday called the Day of the Dead.Us U.S. folk took this Day of the Dead holiday and incorporated it into our own.Just about now,oh my,wait.....holy....dude a vampire just flew by window just as werewolf screamed at the moon.....It is sort of a spooky and fun time time for all ages. You can get dressed up and go to Halloween parties, stay at home and pass out candy and if you have your own kids, they get all dressed up in cool little outfits and you take them from door to door saying "trick or treat".The door opens and candy is handed to the children. That is Halloween....Good night and day to you....Tom Science 3
