I am actively looking to go on auditions and I am curious as to where would be a good school or casting agency to start.

If they are truly "open" auditions, you wouldn't need to go through an agency.

Backstage newspaper lists auditions. The paper is available at large newstands in Manhattan every Thursday.

try backstage.com or craigslist.com they usually list open calls or student films taht are looking for people... good luck!
