Give Ewido a run - is the only one I found which could pull out a few tricky ones - including most rootkits

I'm sorry, but programs like AVG, spybot and adaware simply cannot remove these new types of infections. These used to be great programs a couple of years ago, but have now been overtaken by programs with next-generation approaches.

Here's some detailed information on the Pest trap infection from Prevx, plus a link to a free trial of Prevx1 which will automatically remove this free of charge:

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

VirusBurst is a Smitfraud desktop hijacker infection. Most "general purpose" antivirus and antispyware programs cannot touch it, as you may have already found out.

Removal will likely require a semi-manual procedure.

There are 2 widely used procedures:

Using SmitfraudFix:

Using RogueFix:

Smitfraud is a nasty one that is going to require some work on your part. You probably won't find a software that you can download, push a "magic button" and have it just dissapear!

Roll up ya sleaves and get to work!

Good luck.
