A lot of Republicans from 5 and 10 years ago are ashamed of what the Republican Party has become.
Do you really need to go way back to Lincoln?

Let me make sure you're speaking of the same Lincoln, that I know.
Are you speaking of the same Lincoln, who committed the largest seizure of private property, in the history of the United States?
The same Lincoln, who mobilized the military without Congressional consent, or advise?
The same Lincoln, who suspended habeas corpus, because someone (many) disagreed with his opinion?
The same Lincoln, that went to war, on a part of the world, that only wanted to withdraw from the "Union", through none violent means, in the beginning? NOTE I did not say "declared.
The same Lincoln that sent Federal troops to put down a riot/uprising among the citizens of New York that felt their civil liberties were being violated, because they thought they did not need to join the fight, against the south. An action which caused the death of many people on the side of the "north".
If this is the same Lincoln you are talking about, then I suspect he would be deeply ashamed that his party of choice had not put down the subversionist of this country.

What Republicans are ashamed of what their party has become?
Republicans are the only party left that a Christian can go to without questioning his morality.
Many Christian Democrats have come over to the Republican side as I have because of the issues so many Democrats stand for.
Democrats are the ones fighting for gay marriage, supporting the ban of prayer in school, supporting taking In God We Trust and One Nation Under God off of our currency and state buildings, Democrats are the ones who support and fund programs for abortion, Democrats are the ones that support freedom of speech so long as it doesn't include anything about God, you want to talk about sex in front of children or any other offensive topic or any other God, that's fine...but our God...no way....Democrats in a Christians eyes are everything that is morally wrong with this country.
Abraham Lincoln was a Christian and a Godly man and I think he would be ashamed of what has become of the country. Not just a party...but if it was a party he would be ashamed of it would be the liberal God hating Democratic party that encourages people to stay poor and live off of the government rather than attempting to better themselves.

Are you talking about the Abe Lincoln that signed the emancipation proclamation freeing only the slaves in the south in hopes they would pick up arms and fight with him against the confederacy. Slavery for all did not end until the amendment to the constitution.
Are you talking about the Abe Lincoln that was known for putting journalist in concentration camps because they wrote articles against the war?
I think Abe would be disappointed in the current state of politics of both parties. Why would he be any different than most Americans.
