i stole it from one of the final bosses but i can't equip it or anything and i can't save it afterwards so i can equip it. IS there another way to get it?

yes, you can find it in one of the treasure chest. check out the faq link below and use (Cntl + F) to look for the word ATMA.

weird that you cant' equip it...
after you get Mog, in the imperial base, in basement three, there is a part with pressure plates, it's also the first place you encounter magicites (that call random magi)
southwest plate opens a door in the northeast that has an atma weapon - i think everyone can equip it, but i might be wrong
