They could be better if parents would get involved more with their children's education, otherwise, homeschooling is generally better. Studies have shown that students do better when their parents get involved at least a little bit in their education.

Well I went to a public school then did home school and then to a privet one. With home school I found it lonely and even though we meet up with other home schooled kids once a month it was not the same, and there’s no real structure for how I would work. But the reason I did home school is because of the bulling in the public school and had a break down at the age of 10! I later went to the privet school which I loved because it was more select with what student goes there and therefore no idiots went. Also the cost is the same for public and home school.

Public schools are better because kids can get used to being in classroom, which teaches them how to work with other people. Plus they get to socialize with a lot of other kids that they wouldn't be able to with homeschools. Nothing can replace a classroom. I've done both and I way prefer public schools.

There is no definitive answer, its all relative to the elements involved. They certainly aren't better when a crazed gunman runs the halls, then its real clear where you want children, SAFE at home!

The other issue is, until parents and public schools work together to curtail the horrible damage done by the "student populous" that damages a kid for life, I would suggest private schools or home schooling.

I think its a toss up. Depends on who's doing the teaching. According to the statistic's that have been taken on home schooled kids....and they do have to follow a certain criteria when you are home schooled....they are way ahead of the kids in regular school. I know a family that has 4 kids and mom home schooled them till college and they are all very brilliant kids. So, it works with the right mom doing the job.
