I am 29 years old and I have never worn makeup before. Would it be weird to start now? I feel like I could use a change in my appearance. I have 2 kids and have been married for 7 years. I feel like I am just "plain" because I never take time for myself. Also...how would I go about finding out how to put it on?? Funny I know, but I don't know how to apply makeup! Also, what is a good brand of hypo allergenic makeup (i am very allergic to most makeups...the reason I never wore it).?

It is definitley NOT wierd to start wearing make-up now! Part of wearing make-up (not all of it) is the confidence and feeling feminine. I don't know what your budget is, but it is super overwhelming when choosing makeup to wear, especially since this is kinda new for you. I would suggest, money permitting, going to the make-up counter. Clinique is really good about making all hypo-allergenic products and they would tell you the colors right for you and show you how to apply it. Oh, and don't feel embarrassed about asking how to apply, that is what they are there for. (If you have the money, do it- a mom and a wife- you deserve it!) Personally, I use some high end products for things I like to splurge on like eye shadow, lip gloss, and blush, but if you are looking for something more low-budget (which is definitley do-able) then here is the breakdown!

Depending on your skin type and the condition of your skin currently, it might or might not be necesary to use ALL of these products.I use Neutrogena foundation-Oil Free in the square bottle- which you can find in any drugstore or target or wal-mart for $8. If you have an even skin tone, you could probably go without foundation, which is your base coat used to even everything out. This is the stuff that makes women look like they are wearing masks when it's not the right color- not so cute!

You want to get a concealer or cover-stick. I use covergirl. It is only a few dollars and will last quite a while. Also, with concealer sticks, there is liquid and a stick that looks like lipstick. It's just preference. I use the old school lipstick looking one. Make sure you get it lighter than your skin tone so that it serves its purpose in covering blemishes, dark circles, or uneven tones. This would go on after the concealer of you use it. Just use a little to cover where you need. Normally it is applied under the eyes to cover dark circles, on pmples and any other problem spots.

Next you would apply powder. It's also important to get the right color here. Lighter is better because you don't want to look like you are wearing a mask. Anyways, this is pretty simple. There is loose powder and pressed powder. I use Covergirl loose powder. it comes with a little puff and after the foundation/cover stick or just the cover stick, apply all over your face with the puff or with a medium-large size brush. This helps even everything out and it also absorbs oil.

Blush. Again, make sure you find the right color for you. If you are very fair, pale pinks and peaches look great. Once again, I'm oldschool with my covergirl but I get compliments all the time and people never believe that it's not highend. Anyways, sweep across the apple's of your cheek in circles and then towards your hairline above your ears. Light is better. Don't put too much on the brush, just a little will do. You can always go back and reapply if you want it more pink. I also sweep the blush across my forehead, down my nose, on the end of my chin, and below my eyebrows. Blush should put color everwhere the sun would kiss your skin as a rule of thumb. There won't be the same amount on your forehead as your cheeks but a little color will do a lot. Neutrogena also makes a great blush. This might work well for you because it's for any skin type. There is a pink one and a bronzer tan one. They are made up of little squares of different shades. I really like it and this might be a good starting point for you. Plus, it's less than $10.

Eyes. Mascara, Eyeshadow, Eyeliner, Personally, I don't use all the products all the time. Mascara. If you have blonde hair and fair skin, black mascara will be really dramatic. Go with a brown for a more natural look. The mascara can be used on the top and bottom lashes or just the top is a nice touch sometimes. Eyeliner is not always necessary but depending on your eye color and how dramatic you are going for, brown or black is standard but alternative colors aren't out if you are going for a funky look. I'd stick with standard until you get the hang of it though. The bottom is easier to apply I think. A shrp pencil should apply a ery thin lne as close to the lash line as possible. Covergirl makes great one with a smudger on the other end. This stays on and if you want a smokiers look, the smudger blends that line. This also makes it easier in applying because if you are smudging it a little, there not so much pressure for very straight lines. it's also easier to use one hand to pull the eye out from the corner and use the other to apply the eyeliner. This probably takes the most practice. Be patient! Eyeshadow. Go with a neutral color with a little shimmer for an everyday wear. This can get really creative but it's hard to pull off sometimes. Covergirl once again makes some great colors at affordable prices. Use the applicator and apply over your eyelid. Also, you will notice that the packaging that you buy these products in will have instructions on how to use them.

I would strongly suggest going to a make-up counter to get help in picking out colors right for you. Most importantly, don't overdo it. You don't have to go buy all these products and use them. Try just picking out a blush, mascara, ad lipgloss. These are essentials. Get used to your pretty face with these new elements and go from there. Not everyone has to be glassed up all the time. I use carmex more than any other lipgloss or lipstick that I have ever bought. Also, don't buy into the hype that you HAVE to buy super expensive products. you don't. Choosing the right colors and knowing how to apply them to flatter your features is the key. Practice makes it easier and you will get used to seeing your face with make-up. Pick up a beauty how-to magazine at the grocery store. Ask a girlfriend who wears make-up to give you some pointers. Check out some how-to's online. But if you give it a try and hate it, it sure as hell makes you no less of a woman.

Good luck and I hope this has helped. If you want to e-mail me some specific questions once you venture to the drugstore, I'd love to help!

A very good cosmetics brand is Bobbi Brown. The products are all hypo-allergenic and the colour tones are very natural so you will notice a light but very nice change. The products are expensive (in comparison with l'oreal for example) but they're very tender for the skin.

-Picks out baby names~ Run for your life -watches you change~ Not weird, I also like to watch, it can be very sexual. (turn on) -uses your toothbrush~ Unhygienic, BIG No No! -Picked out what there wearing for your wedding, and you've been dating for only 2 months~ Like I said with the first answer.......RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! -smells your clothes~ I do that because I like the way my man smells but not in a weird way, She's definitely got a problem I think. -watches you when your sleeping~ Depends, this is starting to sound like you may have a psycho for a girlfriend so watch your back. She will totally stalk you when you dump her, she probably already follows you to keep an eye on you. -licks your hair brush~ That's just plain weird!

You should go to Dillards and tell them you are allergic to a lot of make up, and they'll find something for you. You could just go pretty natural, wear base, powder, neutral eyeshadow such as brown, and mascara.

sure, its time for a change. try cover girl for starters. most of their stuff is hypoallergenic. if that doesn't work for you, try clinique. go to a makeup counter at your local department store and let them make you over. that should surprise your husband!
