I believe his intent was not to dis the soldiers, but honestly he was trying to poke a joke at Bush and his people. However because the guy has no clue how to phrase a joke and has created such a fus on the national level that he should apologize if he did indeed hurt anyone with his remarks. Which I am certain he did to some.

Kerry should go and fight for his country and regain his honor. He gave 3 purple hearts back to his country because he said he felt he didn't need them. Well, I would ship him to Iraq and put him on the front lines. See how quick he would slander our boys and girls over there then.

Yeah, i would agree no politician, especially Kerry, who is doing everything possible to stay alive in this cut-throat political society, would intend to call the mena dn women servng in the military "uneducated, ignorant lemmings." That is probably not at all what he meant to convey. However, in this tense time of politics, right around mid-term elections, statements such as the one that Kerry made need to be dealt with immediately.

Kerry is dogmatic about the fact that he was criticising the Bush administration, not criticising the troops. But the real question I have for Kerry is: "Why in the world would you feel you need to criticise the President and his' administration in the middle of a speach to graduating students?" The ONLY reason to do so is to be heard, recorded and replayed on the media. Therefor because he DID mess up his statement, he should be forced to appologize and admit his fault. Becuase that is why people have speech writers, to hopefullyt avoid as many stupid things said as possible.

Free-Speech is all "well and good" but Kerry has made a fool of himself. Thank god, this guy who is so critical of Bush's mistakes is not leading the country with his own ignorance. Nobody is perfect, not Bush, not Kerry, not any one of our past presidents (even Kennedy). But today, with the media coverage the way it is, we cannot seem to let the little things fall un-raped by the media mogels.

If the election weren't a week away, this wouldn't even be an issue. Kerry's point was that for those who have been failed by our lousy school systems, the military is about the only viable option they have, and right now, that ain't much of an option. You really have to twist the logic around 180 degrees to claim he is calling all of our troops uneducated.

And frankly, if the military is concerned about the public perception of the military, they shouldn't keep lowering their standards.

He explained and anyone can see that it was all that was needed. The White House would have you believe a decorated war hero and front runner in support for our troops(does not support war) was bashing his own brothers in arms. I don't think so. By the way, if he had actually shown the balls he showed today in '04, he would be president today.

You know, if you guys had asked him to apologize for calling Bush an idiot, you might have gotten somewhere.

But we all agree: he is! That apparently offends no one, because its kind of accepted fact now.

If someone is hurt because of the remarks the GOP wants you to think he said, and has bent over backwards to tell you he said, don't you think the GOP should apologize for sensationalizing something for pure political gain? Obviously, THEY are the ones who want you to feel "hurt" right?

... I think it could have been better if he would have apologized... since he said he made a mistake, he should apologize for making that mistake...

I don't think he meant to attack the troops, but since some took his comments that way... perhaps he should say he's sorry if anyone took his words in that way... but he shouldn't apologize for what he meant to say...

Yes, he should apologize. His intent was to keep talking and trying to sound smart. I don't understand how anyone can construe his statement to be a poke at Bush. He indirectly called soldiers in Iraq uneducated. It has nothing to do with Bush. What an idiot!!!

If you believe that his statement was a poke at Bush then you should believe that Bush never was "stay the course." -Just because they both say so now.

He shouldn't apologize for something he didn't say. The repubs are are going to spin it anyway regardless, and an apology is considered weakness to most of the conservative ilk.

According to some, he already did, when he said he was directing his remarks against the President of these United States.

Interestingly, that seems to have satisfied the libs.

They are so patriotic and all.
