when my son was about the same age he had the same problem. I had it checked out by the doctor and was told it was probably just the formula he was on and perfectly normal. However they did run tests because some stomach and digestive system problems also have the same symptoms. My best suggestion is if you are concerned take him to the doctor and find out for sure for your own sanity you have enough to worry about right now you don't need this too. good luck
PS my son was bottle fed not breastfed if you are breastfeeding everything i told you could be affected

I read one persons comments sayin that breastfed babies stools are sometimes black. The only time my baby had blck tarry stools, was the meconium on the first/second days after birth. From then on it was loose yellow seedy poops. Not black. He's two now and sometimes it's DARK, but sometimes mine is too, i think it depends on out eating and drinking habits.
Make sure your baby is getting enough milk. Feed your baby and call your doctor or hospital. They will guide you further, you must not believe everything you read written on here. Some people are just ignorant.

I don't really think that is normal. Either take him to the ER, take him back to his doctor, or get a second opinion. By now all of the meconium should be out of his system.

NO THIS IS NOT NORMAL. If it resembles dark strawberry jam ,get him to the emergency room! Take the diaper with you.

It would help to know what you are feeing him too. Also, is it ongoing, or just once?
