I would never vote merely on a phone call from a celebrity or by the biased, exceedingly limited information on slate cards/political mail. It's a waste of money, a waste of paper, my voicemail gets filled with this nonsense I have no use for but have to listen to partially to make sure it isn't actually a personal call. Is not voting my only alternative?

No. Always vote. Just recycle the mail.

However... Last election I twice told people who called with a poll that I would answer their questions if they would help me begin a "no call" list for politicians and charities. They thanked me for my time and hung-up.
You could try that. This election the calls are down by 1/4.
And this is a pretty heated election year in Colorado. ; )

Not even not voting works. My mother hasn't voted in 4 years, because she died then. The mail and phone just keep coming.

I don't read junk mail, and getting your phone number changed are the only answers I can think of. Even the do not call list will not work in this situation because polital and survey calls are exempt. So are charities, even those selling something.

Move to San Francisco, California or rural Utah. No one ever campaigns there.

Yes, keep electing leaders like bush and in another 10 years or so we won't have free elections!
