I think 2006 has been a bit of a patchy year for movies, unlike last year, but do you think there have been any knock out movies. My favourites so far have been Proof, Walk the Line, Capote, Brokeback Mountain, North Country, V for Vendetta, United 93, The Devil Wears Prada, Little Children, Borat, Children of Men, The Last Kiss, Marie Antoinette, Stranger Than Fiction, Little Miss Sunshine. Jackass 2, The Science of Sleep...I go to the cinema a lot and if you're wondering, aren't some of these from 2005, I'm in the UK.

You have a pretty good list for someone who thinks it has been a patchy year. I agree with most of yours. I would add Thank you for Smoking (my standout); Friends with Money; Prairie Home Companion; Jindabyne; the Departed. On a lighter note, I also enjoyed Wallace and Grommit (I think it was this year) and Superman.

My favourite movies this year are Girl in the Cafe, Hard Candy, the Infamous Bettie Page, Little Miss Sunshine, The Lake House (yes, the Lake House), United 93, and The Prestige. I'm still waiting to see the Science of Sleep, Babel and the Departed.

Weird, but the two I am most anticipating in 2007 are Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles and Transformers. Nostalgia ....

My roomates just saw science of sleep last night and said it was the B-O-M-B. Best movie of the year. Only good things for little Miss Sunshine, as well. You're forgetting one very over looked movie thiugh... Strangers With Candy. Jerri Blank is my favorite racist (the only favorite I have in that catagory, mind you. I'm saying I'm not racist!), and the movie captured the tv show in all it's glory.

Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. It has the perfect story line of an outcast becoming the center of attention. Not to mention all the cars, and the amp you get from seeing the movie...

♫ It is very clear that you go to the movies quite often. I live in the US and have not seen half of those. I liked Mission Impossible III and wish to see X-Men: The Last Stand.

Why: For the storylines and powerful climax!
