If the problem is falling asleep, then a protein based snack (like a hard boiled egg, a cracker or cookie, and some almonds) about 1 hour before bedtime will help your body have the level of blood sugar necessary for easy sleep without self-stimulation.
Try thinking something pleasant through. Winning the lottery and trying to decide what to do with my millions usually helps me to drop off.
However, I was a virgin and self-stimulated prior to marriage. I looked on it as learning what my body liked, so I could teach the unknown "him" what I liked. But that was me.
If you feel compulsive/obsessive or addicted, check out the symptoms link at www.hufa.org and see if low blood sugar may not be playing a part in your behavior and decisions.

I have a terrible time sleeping... always have, for some reason my body prefers to function under the cover of darkness and rests better with sunlight??? doesn't really work in a daytime world so I have tried it all. I don't think you should be stressing over something that should be relieving stress for you but if it really does bother you so much i highly recommend yoga and soothing sounds with a blinder on. I started doing yoga before bed and I tell ya it has really helped me a lot. I am doing yoga with rodney yee or lee or something like that and I think it is wonderful... the soothing sounds are a great way to keep your mind from bouncin around all over the place so you can relax and the blinder will keep your eyes from popping back or staying open... other obvious things like cut back the caffine... hot bath... reading... turn the tv off... just all the lil simple things combined together can really make a difference, but i have to tell ya... in everything i have tried what your doing still works best for me.

I think it is perfectly natural to be addect to this habbit! If U are anoyed by the toughts on the daylight U should make Urself very busy!!
When U masturbate some hormons get into Ur body and they cause dependency!! Cuz it is great feeling and relaxing!! U r 21 and it is the perfect thing to think about s ex but if botters U so much talk to a professional (he will tell U that it is natural but if U convince him\her that it is important for U "not thinking on it" he will help U)

i totally admire you for waiting till you are married. you are not ready yet, but your body is feeling what is normal. that is why you feel the urge to do it. i truly cant tell you how to stop completely, but when the urge comes on , try getting out of bed for awhile , if you exercise alot during the day, you might find that you are more tired at night and can fall asleep quicker. this might sound dumb, but buy a hand held video game such as Nintendo ds, buy the puppy game, it will keep you busy until you get tired enough to fall asleep. i am not saying this to be funny, but this game for me , when i play it in bed puts me to sleep faster. i dont sleep well and it has helped. good luck. i hope you find your answer.

Honey, I was the exact same way. I started masturbating before I even knew what sex was. And when I became a Christian I felt guilty about it. But now I know that it is perfectly natural. I believe God is ok with it because it loosens up the temptation to have real sex.

the reason that you get good sleep after wards is from a flood of endorphins- natural hormones- similar to the flood you feel right after adrenaline raising activity- as for the masturbation, there really is nothing wrong with it, it is perfectly normal given your age- try not to beat yourself up mentally over it. but if you choose to stop then go ahead- taper off- meditate, stay away from caffeine at night and do not exercise or do anything physically active at least 30 minutes before bedtime- might help you sleep- never helped me get to sleep, as I am an insomniac, but to each their own...good luck

My advice is to keep masturbating. You are a 21 year old woman. Biologically, you are in your peak years for fertility and, therefore, sexual drive. Having thoughts of sex in the daytime is normal and expected. If masturbating helps you sleep, I say stay with it. I applaud your choice to abstain from sex until marriage, but masturbation is natural and will help to satiate your sex drive until you have a husband who can satiate it for you.

I'm not sure that you can stop masturbating and also get it out of your system, but if your looking for an alternative reading can relax you and excercising is also a good alternative. In my honest opinion I see nothing wrong with masturbation as long as it is done in moderation and doesn't consume your life.

It's just your hormones acting up. It's natural. Stressing over it won't help.
If trying to relax at night is your problem then try using a lavender room spray. The scent helps me relax.

Good for you that you want to wait for marriage. Honey, if you don't make it until marraige at least make sure he is your longterm boyfriend. Enjoy masturbation, it is ok and most every normal person does it. I remember thinking I shouldn't do it to but that is because no one ever told me that it is normal and perfectly fine to do. Now practice feeling good about it afterwards. Masturbation is your relief for having sexual thoughts so it will probably help you reach your goal to wait until marraige. Just don't pop your own cherry from insertion, your husband will want to share this with you.
