Indeed they can. Like all alcids, their wings are used both under water and in the air, so they're not the greatest flyers - a flying puffin looks like it's working very hard at it.

Yes, puffins do fly. They beat their wings up to 400 times a minute to achieve an amazing speed of 40-55 mph.

Most definitely! You almost never see them anymore, but they used to be on Animal Planet a lot more than they are today. They make me think of tiny, fluttering darts, especially with that brightly-colored beak at the front. They flap their wings very fast--you wouldn't think they'd be able to keep it up for long. I can't particularly remember how long they can.

I've heard that they can. Not well, but just enough to qualify as flying I guess.

They Puff themselves with air and they float upwards.
