Just an addition, Bronze marquettes are not always made in bronze, often they are worked up in plaster, then painted with a special aluminised medium, so that they take Patina ( patina is the stuff that makes bronze that deep black or funny green colour). Marqutting in actual bronze is very time consuming and very, very wasteful of the bronze its self. Plaster marquttes that have been patinated are a lot lighter than true bronze, and will still tell you about the appearence and structural problems that may occor in a full scale model.

Its a small scale model for a finished sculpture or architectural work
Think of it as a sample piece.
