Neither, because a chicken (as we know it today) slowly evolved from previous life, and it's eggs follwed suit.
There is no first, because the line between Chickens and it's genetic ancestors is not that distinct, since species are defined by the ability to procreate. Also, today's chickens are very slightly genetically different then chicken's from 1000 years ago and future chickens, so you'd have to define more closely what you mean by chicken.

The egg likely came first as the progenitor chicken species was a theropod bird, which all lay eggs to reproduce. Evolution by natural selection brought forth the egg and chicken and nothing else did.

Again with the chicken and egg thing. I am going to take a page from Richard Dawkins and Stephen J. Gould and stop debating creationist. Do not worry, little girl, someone else here will take this on. The impetuousness of youth.

in my opinion, id probably say the chicken. Im connecting my answer to the theory of Creation because when God made animals, specifically the chicken, he didn't make eggs to go lay around and get hatched all by itself. SAme goes with human beings, God didn't create Adam and Eve as babies and waited for them to grow up and take care of the land He built. lol

Evolutionarily, eggs came first, because there were egg laying species before there were chickens. Creationisticly, chickens came first because chickens can survive without eggs, but eggs can't survive without chickens. I say, seven days or seven million years, God did it.

chicken, because if the egg came first, nothing would sit on it and keep it warm, the egg would freeze to death and no chicken would be produced
