I am 5weeks pregnet. My husband had TB a long time ago. He doesnt have it no more and has ben going once a year to the health department for shots. Can my baby have TB when He/she is born becuase my husband had it? Thanks everyone. I will be looking forward to here from everyone so can you please respond.

It is more likely that the baby will carry the gene, yes. But you should all be fine. You need to talk to your health care PROFESSIONAL about this. Not yahoo people.

TB is an airborne disease, not hereditary.

No, your baby should be fine. Tuberculosis is NOT hereditary. It is a disease that is transmitted from person to person through the air during coughing and sneezing. When a person coughs or sneezes, the droplets containing Mycobacterium tuberculosis enter the air where they can be inhaled by those around them.

No, TB is in your lungs, it spreads through saliva & coughing. If he no longer has it you are fine, I have found nothing that states in can be passed on through conception.

I'm thinking, no, because it is a disease that is contracted, not something you are born with.
