support from the US public for military action against Fidel
Castro. Basically, President Kennedy was nervous about
the Communist Cuba under Fidel, and their ties to the USSR.
The reality is Fidel posed little to no threat to the USA. USSR
posed a much bigger threat at the time than Cuba ever could.
