With the time of day, and date. So if it were after mid-night, say one o'clock, I would do 1:00 11/1.

Anything done after 12:00pm midnight is considered the next day and in your diary it should be recorded as such. Like as I am writing this it is 11:50 PM on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 but in exactly 11 minutes from then it will be 12:01AM Wednesday, November 1, 2006. Just remember to use the AM or PM if you are writing down the exact time.

If you started writing before midnight, you use that date. If you started after midnight, give the time and current day. You don't have to break the two entries if you go past midnight.

If I start before midnight, I use that date. If I start after, I use that date. But really... it's your diary, so there is no right way or wrong way to do things. There is only YOUR way. So express yourself... and have fun! - Andrea

I write the date and then the time. I often do this for most of my journal entries because it clarifies a lot of things. I would write, October 31, 2006 12:01 a.m. I also like to write the time I finish writing, so the top might read: October 31, 2006 12:01 a.m. - 12:30 a.m.

I date mine according to the date, & a new date commences at midnight. If I date it the date prior to midnight, them I don't feel honest about it, not that anyone else would know or care.
