For instance I always thought that a wedding ring was supposed to be tight. I wear a sterling silver ring and since it is loose I wear a ring adjuster and it makes the ring tight. I like it that way but is it against etiquette or anything?

You should be able to pull the ring off fairly easily when needed, but so long as it's not stopping blood flow, however you're comfortable is fine.

You use a guard ring . That is acceptable. A ring should have a perfect snug fit : Not uncomfortable but just right. In the good old days it was forbidden in marriage, to remove a wedding ring: both partners had to wear it always. A loose ring tends to wear out fast with the knocks it takes in day to day work. It loses its lustre and gives a cheapish gold look. That is why most people wear a comfortable size ring so that it can be removed when doing the daily chores, where ever it may be.

It should not be too tight. You should be able to remove it easily. The best size is when it doesn't make a mark on your finger. It should be tight enough just to go through the knuckle.

Having a ring adjuster isn't against any etiquette. It's fine. In case you put on weight, you can remove the adjuster.

My engagement ring slid around below my knuckle alot until my fiance & I went to get it resized and I made sure they sized it as tight as they could without cutting off my blood flow- I ended up getting it a size and a half smaller! I've heard too many stories of people loosing their rings in the water- at the beach, washing hands, etc. Yes, they could have just taken them off but I don't plan to take my ring off at all. One thing to keep in mind, the jeweler mentioned to me was that your fingers swell during cold weather & during a friend of mine's pregnancy her fingers swelled so badly that she had to wear her wedding set on her pinky! Personally, when I wake up in the morning my ring is alot tighter than it is at the end of the day, so leave a little extra room, it's by no means in bad etiquette.

A ring should be tight enough to be comfortable and not slip off. You can have it sized or use a ring adjuster. It doesn't matter.

It is supposed to be snug not to loose it of course but a too tight of ring can cause circulation problems and you will have discomfort, I good jeweler will know the proper fit.
