I think John Lennon's cover of stand by me is the best cover i've ever heard. The original was great, but the cover was superb.
To the person who said they liked the cover of drift away, i have to say that i thought that was a very ordinary cover. It basically just chopped all the high and low notes off the ends and was flat all the way through.

I have to agree with you, even though the original was pretty boss.
I do enjoy Jimi Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower" and Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and my favorite cover song....
"I Put a Spell On You" by Creedance Clearwater Revival.

The first time I heard Luther Vandross sing was on a morning talk show, Good Morning America,I think. He sang,
'A House is not a Home", previously recorded by Dionne Warwick. I loved that song already, after hearing Luther sing it, I don't even think there is a comparison. Even Dionne said he owned that song now.

I prefer James Blunt's cover of "Rocky Raccoon", as opposed to the Beatles version.
