Wanting to maybe get my dad a new broom for Christmas. I don't know anything about curling and I know they make horsehair and another type of brooms. I know he uses horsehair and if I got another ty pe would he not like it cuz he's used to horsehair? I don't want to ask him cuz it is a present. Also if you could point me in the direction of good brooms. He is not a novice either he has been curling for like 6-8 years... Thanks

Yes, it makes a difference in the type of broom used. If your Dad likes the horse hair, then stick with it. There are a number of good curling supply stores online. Google 'curling supplies', I'm sure several suppliers will come up and you can probably talk with someone about brooms. Most places have 800 numbers that you can call. Good luck.

Where I`m from brooms are for the floor but you sound like you are talking about a hair brush and if you are go with the horse hair becausehis hair is trained by it already.

get one that doesn't have any hair at all, there are ones made with material, that way the ice stays nice and clean. and make sure you get the right size, men's brooms are usaully bigger and heavier then others. you can pick one up at any store that sells sports equipment. good luck man.

The best thing for you to do, is to try to talk to one of his team mates, "on the quiet". Let him know what you are trying to do, and ask him for some advice.
