I see kids posting their homework questions and good samaritans answering them eagerly. I wonder about the long-term effects.. Will more kids end up learning less and less? (Of course, some folks will get a lot of points for answering, but..)

I hate trying to answer a math Q on here...there is always sum1 who can figure out faster than i can, so i cant get best answer.

Sometimes, we do need help on sumthing really complicated. And sumtimes, there are ppl who ask a bunch of crappy easy questions. Like the ppl who kept on asking multiple choice questions about the Odyssey...ugh. Multiple choice questions should not be asked here unless ur stuck between two choices...I learned that the hard way. And true or false questions should be guessed and not asked here at all. I think this site is better if the ppl ask for explanations for the assignment instead of straight out answers w/o giving information on how to GET to the answer. All in all, completely lazy answers only hurt the asker in the end. Aint life great? (not)

I am a college student and i frequently post questions on answers. I am in Calculus 2 and on some of the questions I will get stuck. On Yahoo answers, usually someone can show me what I missed and I can learn from my mistakes. I do not use it as a get answers quick thing. I have a Calc question up right now because I missed a class and do not understand how to do this new type of problem. I asked for and explanation on how it is done though, not the answer!
So, to the right person, I think it is very beneficial. But, there are some who very obviously just use it for the easy answer. Those people are only hurting themselves when test time comes

I teach science. I don't personally have a problem with kids using the computer (including Yahoo! answers) for help. But I've seen a lot of WRONG answers on here, too. I let my kids know that they are responsible for what they turn in. And they also know they are responsible for the material on a test. I mean, is asking someone on here for an answer really different from looking up the answer on a website?

specific I do...yet i think of it relatively is meant to be appealing. i know I now and lower back go away kooky solutions besides as others, and that's a snort all of the genuine solutions for me I study on genuine web pages, by skill of typing the question in a seek engine. YA isn't the area to discover genuine information. this is to no longer say a great sort of relatively sturdy stuff isn't on right here, yet on known we act like massive childrens...and there is no longer something incorrect with that.

Evidently so. I agree wholeheartedly. It's one thing if you've got something you're stuck on. It's another thing to type in the entire page complete with multiple choices and have someone fill it out for you. What do you gain from that? You probably could have found it all yourself just as quickly.

P.S. The spelling and grammar could improve as well...

Copying answers from any source won't help on the test- only practice will do that.

Could be. I try to show how I did the problems in enough detail so that they (I hope) learn how to do them.
