I think we need to always be open to the fact that maybe there are different approaches that we can take and not just continue on a course that is not getting the results that EVERYONE expected.

A victory in Iraq was declared long ago. I don't think anyone thought so many of our soldiers would still be losing their lives this long into the war. How can we continue on as we originally planned when our plans didn't include such a prolonged and violent battle?

No one predicted the results we are having. We need to seriously consider all options and reevaluate the situation. That doesn't necessarily mean leaving tomorrow. But considering all options and brainstorming new possibilities is essential.

HARDTIMES, the first poster, is a freakin' idiot. He cannot even spell 'course!' What an idiot. How the hell can you take advice from that idiot when the idiot cannot even elaborate on why he wants to stay the 'course,' huh? Idiots like HARDTIMES need to get off their high horse and realize that people like him who give short ******* answers to questions are just using the same tactic over and over again. You might ask what is that tactic? I will tell you what that freakin' tactic is. It is universally known that humans do not like to engage in too much chaos and lengthy items that require too much of their time and attention. It is simply a natural thing for humans to despise. HARDTIMES is just giving humans what they want, which is a short, quick answer to something that requires more verbage. Don't fall for his cheap shots. He's a moron.

Anyway, I believe that for any given community, the direction to take is relative. Depends on the citizens of that community and the desired outcome. Is it worth staying the 'course' or is the price too high?

Our community is the whole of the USA. We are in the toilet now so changing directions is the best and most logical solution. I might be reaching here but the majority of Americans have to know that changing directions is the only path to salvation.

I think of it like driving to from Topeka to Disneyland... I can either take the route given to me by AAA and get there in three days, or randomly change directions every time I have to fill the gas tank because "we're not there yet" and never get there.

change direction at once! If you're talking about the current situation locally and also in Iraq, we're going the wrong way. If we keep this up, we'll have nuclear weapons being sent our way faster than we can blink.

Most definitely, stay the course or deal with an even worse war later. Burying your head in the sand won't make the threat go away.

Change directions, admit mistakes, and try to fix things.

um...can you be more specific? Making a decision to change depends on the situation.
