My advice is play as a team when you guys got the ball, pass the ball around and keep everyone involved.
Now I don't know what type of player he is, if he is a center that's as good as shaq, then do what chicago does, they tripple team him once he starts dribbling. if he's a guard then it's a good idea to keep up with him and keep your hands in his drippling area, when he pulls up for a shot don't try to block, instead contest his shot by putting a hand in his face so he can't see the rim. if he still is beating you after this then i sugest you tell your coach that you should move to a zone defence. when in a zone defence just keep your hands up.
try to draw fouls on him, if he gets into foul trouble then he aint going to be much of a threat now is he. To get him to get into foul trouble try doing a pump fake every now and then, if he bites, then jump into him and shoot, and pray you hear a wistle. if he aint picking up fouls that way then try drawing a charge on him, remember you don't have to be derectly under the basket to draw a foul, it can happen anywhere on the coart. if he is a big man like shaq then start doing the acting gig, when he posts up on you act like he is fouling you by screming AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! and falling backwards, but make sure you have a teammate ready to pick him up in case the ref don't call the foul.
A team is as good as they want to be as long as they are deticated, work hard and do all the little things right. also a great team is not a team loaded with talent, but has a team that plays well together.
IMPORTANT! maybe the reason your team is not that good is because everyone is selfish, or takes way to many 3 pointers. my advise is get everyone involved and don't take 3's, if you need three, then take it to the hole and try to draw the foul, maybe you can get a 3 point play out of it.

first of all, congradulations on being the star player of your team. secondly, if you put a negative view on things, the result will always turn out negative. i had this happen to me many times so trust me. instead of being afraid that youll get embarrassed, view it as an opportunity to prove yourself to friends, family, etc. remember that this guy is ranked no. 3 in THE country and chances are, if your gonna get embarrassed, your not the only one. if you dont win, no biggie, but always have respect for ALL the players of the game. this way respect will come back to you. your playing with a VERY good player and my advice is to just try your best and try to have fun. if you keep playing basketball you'll encounter lots of people like this guy. just dont show him your afraid and respect him. keep working hard and best of luck in 3 weeks.

First, remove all your anxieties when playing with him. It will affect your game psychologically because your thinking of so many things before the game starts. What matters most is to play your best in every game and hopefully, your teammates as well. There is nothing embarrassing if you played your best and lost because the other team is a better one.
In all sports, there is a time for winning and losing. In every situation or game, always ponder on your straights and weaknesses and learn how to keep on improving. Learn from every game.
Good luck in your next game.

do your best and that is all anyone can ask of you if you give 100% and walk off the court knowing you(and your team) gave 100% in every aspect of the game than you can't be disappointed about the score. You did your best

first, give him the wrong venue of where the game would be played so that he can't go to the gym and he can't play. you win!
Seriously, your coach must have some strategy to stop that guy. believe in that strategy and do it. Second, just play your game and don't try to do too much. Third, trust in yourself and your teammates. you can beat anybody. Just play hard and have fun.,
