Because the British are and will always have the same mindset just like the Americans. People from both locations were only interested in what the United States had to offer (such as furs, lumber, land, water, etc.) and the Indians were in the way. People who settled in the US had exactly the same mindsets. Plus they wanted the Indians to embrace Christianity. In short, they were very succinctly, just a bunch of greedy men (and women).

First, you should know that Indians fought on BOTH sides of the war..according to what suited their interests, but they mostly fought FOR the British. Most Native American tribes east of the Mississippi didn't know which sidet o take during the Revolutionary War, so many remained neutral. Some tribes though, feared the Revolution would replace the Britishwith the colonials who wanted their land. So, these tribes fought WITH the British and acted against the colonists on their own.
When the British did fight against Indians, it wasn't that they felt they HAD to fight the Indians,...its just that certain tribes of the 5 Nations had separate interests in what each side was fighting for. Rememeber that when British forced out the French (with whom the Indians had gotten along) they took over the government. Treaties were broken and many misunderstandings arose. As for tribes like the Mohawks, etc., who fought WITH the British, it was to push the whites away who were encroaching on their land. To them, the promises the British made were enough for them to aid in fighting. Besides, the British lived "over the waters" and the Americans were "there" attempting to settle themselves into Indian territory.
As for the British fighting the Indians, there were other tribes of the 5 Nations who fought on the side of the Americans because of treaty negotiations, promises of returned land, or thought that since the Americans had not settled as thickly as they could have (little did they know that that would change with Manifest Destiny) it was in their best interest to fight the British so no more settlers (or so they thought) would come from the "Anglaise" or the Mother country.

Which Indians? The Native Americans or the Indians from India? The British fought them both and tried to brutally colonize both.

During the French & Indian war, the Indians allied themselves with the French against the British colonists who were stealing their land. After they lost, the Brits wanted payback. What happened in India is similar, but due more to British imperialism.
