I watch very little TV but when I do I am extremely choosey. Usually it's information, sometimes entertainment. I loath "reality" TV. I don't understand the attraction of watching other peoples' trivial lives. But that's just me.

The present media educational shows offer opportunities to learn something while the major listing of so called entertainment has become drawn out commercials for movies and other products. The late night shows are free ads for upcoming movies and books. The old days had more material that was entertaining and less commercialism. Watching good documentaries is far more rewarding than late shows or talk shows like The View, Ellen and others. At least Oprah usually has a balanced presentation which is worth watching.

I much prefer non-fiction over fiction, in books and on television, so that leads me more to educational/documentary type shows.
