My total income was $9600. $7200 went to rent, and $2400 went to groceries.
How do I find the percentage of my income that went to rent, and the percentage that went to groceries? I need to understand how it's done so that I can learn to do it myself.
Thanks.

divide 7200 by 9600 to get the percentage for rent, which is an outstanding amount and do the same for groceries..

If you are paying $7,200 rent with $9,600 income.. that's a lot!

If your income was $1000 and your rent was $750, that would be 75% of your income for rent. If your food costs were $250, that would be 25%.

By dividing the income into the rent, you get .75 or 75%. Ditto with the food. Divide the fraction amount (rent or food) by the whole amount.

7200 / 9600 = .75 2400 / 9600 = .25

wow.. I haven't had to do that for a long time.. whew

Ermmmm

Rent = 75%

(7200 / 9600) * 100

So groceries = 25%
