Cross multiply to get the answer:

(x+1) / (x-1) = 3/4

So, 4 * (x+1) = 3 * (x-1)

Now you can multiply out, isolate the x's on one side, and solve for x:

4x + 4 = 3x - 3

Subtract 3x from both sides:

x + 4 = -3

Subtract 4 from both sides:

x = -7

(x+1)/(x-1)=3/4 multiply by (x-1)
(x+1)=3(x-1)/4 then
4x+4=3x-3
x=-7

(x+1)/(x-1)=3/4 multiply by 4(x-1)
4(x+1)=3(x-1) distribute terms
4x+4=3x-3 subtract 3x+4 from each side
x=-7

(x+1)/(x-1) = 3/4
3(x-1) = 4(x+1)
3x - 3 = 4x + 4
3x = 4x + 3 + 4
3x = 4x + 7
3x - 4x =7
-x = 7
x = -7

Check the solution:
(-7+1)/(-7-1) = -6/-8
= 6/8 (Minus signs cancel each other out)
= 3/4
The answer is correct

x+1/x-1 = 3/4
(x+1)(4) = (x-1)(3)
4x + 4 = 3x - 3
4x -3x = -4 - 3
x = -7
