There is something called Nuchal Cord where the cord is so tightly wrapped it causes fetal distress due to a lack of oxygen to the brain. This is RARE though, as the cord is thick and strong and cannot usually become stretched so thin as to cut off the oxygen supply to the brain. There is also a train of thought that still born babies with the cord wrapped around them have died of some other unrelated disorder and because the cord then loses its tension and elasticity, it becomes wrapped around the baby, giving the impression the cause of death was strangulation when it was not. The sonographer and your doctor will be aware of the position of the cord so surely you will have further scans prior to giving birth to check this? As others have said, you may end up with a c-section but I'm sure you are okay with this if it's for your baby's well-being.

Just leave it alone and it will fall off faster. Stop cleaning it and let the fresh air do it's work.
You may want to push down around the cord to expose the base just a little bit to get the stump drying out down there.
Sometimes umbilical stumps take a while to fall off. It's normal and as long as it's not oozing or smelling nasty, it's fine.

Sounds perfectly normal to me. My son's umbilical cord stump didn't fall off until about 3 1/2 weeks. It started to get REALLY smelly and seemed to be seeping. I called the dr. and they just said to keep an eye on it. If you're worried, call you baby's doctor.

they usually fall off by 10 days of age, just keep cleaning the area, and leave it open to air, like a t-shirt/ baby togs/pants so the umbilicus is exposed to air. take baby to the doc if you think something is wrong, but i doubt it. the doc may be able to clean it more vigorously than a new mother, and it may come off. a word of note, most umbilical cords bleed just a spec when they fall off. this is normal. baby nurse over 15 years. it will fall off!

Ask your doc. My sons stump took almost 2 months to fall off. I can't remember what the doctor called it but he developed scar tissue around the base of the cord and so it took longer to heal. It did eventually fall off on it's own.

Sometimes they do take awhile. My daughters fell off at 2½ weeks. Just keep doing what you are doing, and if it hasn't fallen of by next week - mention it to her pediatrician.

It's normal that it hasn't fallen off yet. Give it a few more days--it's not like it's doing him any harm to have it there still. If it still hasn't fallen off after a few more days then consult his doctor.
