On the contrary many people like prison . Some gang leaders can even orchestrate their criminal activites from prison, and it's taxpayer's money that takes care of them. And anyone that's taken human life (other than in self defense) doesn't deserve to live. They also get free education so some go there just for that, or for the fact that they have food and a place to sleep without having to work. And what if they are abusing other prisoners, maybe some that have changed or want to.
That being said I'm for the death penalty, that's just less freaks the world will have to deal with.

Always an interesting question. I read today where China has changed its judicial system so that China's supreme court will review all death penalty cases in the future. They cited cases where two inmates were put to death, and it was later discovered that the 'victims' were actually living.
I don't see how a person can place a higher value on one person's life (the victim) and assign a lower value to another life (the criminal.) I think that only one Being can play God. The rest of us are mortals.
The greatest argument against the death penalty is what happens when the wrong person has been convicted and executed for a crime they didn't commit. (It has happened.)
That is a wrong that can never be righted.
Never, ever.

Tough question. As to Scott Peterson, Murdering his pregnant wife, I'd rather seem him with life in prison without parole, so he would have to live with the rest of the inmates. Now that he is on death row, he will be coddled for the next 20 years. As to Charlie Manson, FRY him, he has NO remorse, NO feelings, and is probably enjoying his days now with his "buddies". Each case needs to be looked at. This week in California, someone deliberately started a brush fire, where 4 Firemen were killed, another is in very critical condition, plus 30 to 40 homes were destroyed. Murder one charges. Felony Arson charges. How many families, etc., did this asshole affect for the rest of their lives, plus the lives lost, and homes destroyed. Not to mention all the wildlife and native habitat burned up. What kind of remorse will that person have? And what kind of mercy should we give him/her.? Each case is different.

I am definately for it. Our prisons are so overcrowded now that there is no place to put them. I don't want someone who is convicted of killing a child or family or whoever spending their life in jail using my taxes..getting free education, free health care, free everything...and if a prisoner has to go the hospital..screw everyone else that may be dying..they get to go first even if they are not really sick. I can't get free education or free health care and I have always obeyed the law. I personally think that once they are sentenced to death, it should take place within 2 weeks or so...They stay in jail 15 years and then on the date that they are supposed to executed people step up and rally for the decision to be overruled...sometimes it is and then they get out to kill again. Would you want a killer living next to you or working in the city park where your kids go and play. I think if they did the crime...they should pay IMMEDIATELY.

I am FOR the death penalty. I am not for the way it is handled. I think that if there is DNA evidence indisputable. They should be taken and killed the next day. That would save LOTS of money. But people who commit horrible crimes like raping and killing and eating babies or something should not be allowed to live for 10-15 years on death row.

I am for it. Yes it would be great if we had no parole. But we do and they make deadly mistakes all the time. A murderer should not be paroled to go out and kill a 2nd and 3rd time before they decide to throw away the key.
I think a deserted island would be good also. Just fly be and drop off food, water and clothing.

I'm for it. Nothing pisses me off than watching someone get life in prison, and then in 15 years theyre out doing whatever it is that landed them in the slammer in the first place. I say for the major crimes, make the death painful so that a) they pay for their actions and b) other would be encouraged to obey the law.

Against, but I wan't life to mean LIFE IN PRISON!!!!!!!
I would also like to see the end of certain perks while in prison. I still want them to be able to get a high school education, but I'm tired of my tax dollars paying for the ridiculous. I'm happy for my dollars to keep them behind bars. They can continue to help with the cost of their incarceration with working from behind bars making things.

im with you all the way, exept maybe the tax dollar part, but i dont think it really costs that much more cuz they usually keep them on death row for at least 10 years in a cell all to themselves, but ya life is much more crueler than death and they should be punished for life for taking anothers
