I just had some old galvanized pipes replaced with copper ones. But now, every time I turn the faucet on, the first water that comes out is brown....within a second or so, it turns clear. Is this something that just happens for awhile with new copper pipes, or does this sound abnormal?

The renovation knocked loose sediment in the pipes left behind. The sittng water picks it up and concentrates it until you open the tap. The sitting water is first out and is brown from the sediment. Should clear up in a while but if you have a concern cal the plumber who did the work to clean or replace the remaining pipes.

You really don"t have any problem -- just keep using water and it will finally clear itself up in time. This is coming from your old galvanized pipes having rust, etc. that has been "stirred" up from your repairs. It will flush out after a while and run clear.
