Hippies for there day and the ones that are still stuck in the 60's-70's were a liberal group of people again for the time. Peace not War.......Make Babies not Bombs. An anti establishment group. Which wasn't all bad........but like any group there are the things that the mainstream media focused on: sit in's, anti-war protests that turned into riots. And those are the things that people still today focus on and look negatively on the time. I was dragged out of my car by a cop in 1971 by my hair, handcuffed to my door handle, and was beaten by this cop with his flash light for the only reason was he didn't like "long hair" on a guy. I was attacked in Georgia by some rednecks again because of my hair. I got hit in the head in a bar room with a beer bottle because I was a hippie. Hippies were labeled as unclean, lazy, non-working, pot/drug using, long hair, pinko fags.....lol......people back in the day looked at the hippies as a threat of some sort.

Well, everyone has a different version of the "hippy" days. My oldest sister was from that time era. She made Bell bottoms look good! She ratted her hair real high, wore white/pink lipstick, gave the peace sign to all of her friends, and she probably "smoked" a bit too! (maybe) But it was also around the time of the vietnam war, and "that" wasn't too peaceful. Of course the "hippy's" weren't too fond of that, and protested it quite a lot, and my sister was one of the protesters. There was good & bad at that time
in life, kind of like "NOW!".... ."Peace, Dude"

Hippies in general are nice folks. They're all about loving others and being tolerant. The unfortunate thing is, in all of the "love", they get very passionate about their ways....such as being liberal, doing things that might be unlawful, and then the normal...just being sinful, because we all are by nature. They get scrutinized because of this. Christians do, as well. Hippies and Christians both profess to loving everyone, doing each other kindly and tolerating to a certain point. The differences are that Christian do believe in following the Law of the Land. They know illegal is wrong. Hippies look at Law like it is a suggestion.
i like hippies. i do things differently, but then again....my friends do things differently than me, as well.

Name one thing that Hippies contributed to our nation? Don't worry, I'll wait. All Hippies did was do drugs and have sex. Wow. Looks like they were great.
