CSI is 99.9% real. The techniques they use are the same real CSI's use to solve crimes. Taking DNA from a toothpick is simple to do and can lead to a suspect. The only thing real CSI's don't do is interview and interrogate suspects. That is just for television.

Yes it is the real thing, but the time frame is different. Sometimes DNA stuff takes weeks as does some tox reports, but in the interest of an hour long tv show, of course it is sped up. Forensic science is fascinating, check it out sometime. You would be amazed at what they can tell about you with so very little to go on too.

well not exactly. The people in the CSI buisness aren't as good looking and plus its not as fun as what they make it look like, but it is true that you can idenify a person by a toothpick they put in their mouth or something of that sort. You can even idenify someone if a few skins cells fell off. Its amazing what they can do nowadays.
also they dont talk to the suspects for a confession or somethign like that. Thats not their job. They only find the evidence used to convict the criminals. They never actually interriogate them or prosecute them. Theyre job involves gathering evidence used to convict a suspect and try and prove him or her guilty. Its basically their job to gather the facts to get a suspect to court. Without evidence a person cannot be submitted to a jury because of lack of evidence and probable cause.

Real life CSI stuff doesn't just happen in a snap of the fingers. It takes time for DNA and other substances to be tested. And to see who it belongs to.

And real CSI's don't go and question people.

they speed stuff up alot..what takes weeks is in a few minutes.

no. because csi is a television show with scripts and organinzed episodes and events. the reality of it is plausible in the aspect of investigating crimes and such. but in the real world, crime scene investigation is not planned in script. nothing you find on tv is ever going to really relate to real life anyway. especially csi...

its close but not exact.

dna from a toothpick dropped could easily be linked to a person with todays equipment.....very possible to do.

No. CSI does not interview and does not conduct dective style investigations. They really are sceintist, they digest data and information and that's it.
