Listen being a "better" QB is NOT about the form and beauty of your passing, nor is it about your completion rate or about any other stupid and irrelevant statistic. Statistics are simply one minor measure of one's performance, on-field success is the ONLY true yardstick!

The first and foremost duty of the team's QB is NOT pass completions, or even "getting the ball" to receivers nor is it "touchdown to interception ratios!" The ONLY numbers that count for a QB are those of taking his team down the field and WINNING the game. Then WINNING the playoff, then the SB!

That is IT! There is NO OTHER GOAL IN NFL FOOTBALL!

ANYONE who thinks that Payton Manning, great as he is, is a better QB than Tom Brady, simply does NOT UNDERSTAND anything about the purpose of the game of football! (Or you simply don't understand the actual definition of the word "better!") It is a stupid as saying that Bob Dole was a better presidential candidate than Bill Clinton or that John Kerry was actually a more effective campaigner than George Bush. That Schumacher was a better driver than Alonso this year, Detroit was actually the "better" team in the World Series..........

The QB, like all sports figures and teams must be judged by the way they DO THEIR JOBS. Their job is to lead the team to victory. Period!

Tom Brady is the best quarterback playing today. Period. Bradshaw was better than Unitis, Stauback or Tarkington, Montana was better than Elway or Marino, Aikman and Elway better than Farve.

And to the guy who claimed that Manning would have led the Pats to the SBs just as Brady did...... YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO WAY WHATSOEVER OF KNOWING THAT, it is simply your naive and rather idiotic OPINION and NOTHING MORE! The fact is HE DIDN'T and as far as REAL LIFE REALITY goes, that's ALL she wrote!

Why can't you type correctly? There wasn't a single form of punctuation anywhere. Anyway, I think you have to give it Peyton. Yeah, Brady's got more Superbowls, and he's got the most touchdowns in a season, but that's basically all he's got going for him. I think a lot of Brady's success has to do with the talent surrounding him. He's always had great recievers. He's had a decent running game helping him out, and the Pats have always had a pretty respectable defense. Manning, on the other hand, has had to put a lot more of the team on his shoulders. After E. James left, the Colts never really got back to be very good at running the ball. Their defense has been only alright, with their run defense being abysmal. And do you think Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie wouldn't been this relevent if they had Brady throwing to them? Probably not. Also, I think Peyton is the smartest quarterback to play the game. Period.

First of all, I'll acknowledge that Manning is playing, and leading his team, far better than I thought he would this year without "Edge".

Having said that, I would still take Brady every time. Brady has had better coaching and a better defense, but any case for Manning would be based on his stats alone, and he has had the advantage of:

Playing with a great Marvin Harrison, a very good Reggie Wayne (is there a better #2 receiver?), James (until this year), etc. He has also played half his games in a dome.
Brady's team has defeated Manning's every time they have met in the playoffs, and obviously, 3 rings to none makes a huge difference.
What's puzzling about Peyton is that he is smart, competitive, very talented, etc., but you cannot blame everyone else for his playoff failures. What's also interesting is that the U of Tennessee won a national championship the year after he left. Maybe, not all coincidence.

And, if Brady were qb-ing the Colts last year, would they have lost that home playoff game v. the Steelers, even w/out getting every favorable call that the Colts got (the reveresed Polamalu interception, etc.)? I suspect that even Manning fans know the answer to that.

Out of those two choices, I would have to say Peyton Manning. Tom Brady does have 3 Super Bowl rings but I think that has more to do with the fact that he had a team full of all stars. Now that the Pats are trading away all their playmakers it is obvious that Brady is not the QB that everyone thought he was (although he's still VERY good). Peyton's accuracy and ability in the 2 minute drill is unquestionable. The one thing he is lacking is his big game ability. If he can get over that and get to the Super Bowl, he will be the best QB in the NFL.

Peyton Manning is the better quarterback. Brady might have the superbowls but he didn't win those by himself. If Peyton played for the Pats he would have the same rings that Brady does, possibly more. Here's a question, who's a better player Matt Light (Pats OT) or Peyton Manning. Anybody would say Peyton but Matt Light has the same amount of super bowl wins as Tom Brady but that doesn't make Light better than Manning.

Peyton manning is the best QB in the game today. Put him on those 3 NE Superbowl teams and tell me he would have 3 rings. He has never had much of a D to work with and he still wins consistently with the Colts. Tom Brady is a good QB, but he is not a Peyton Manning. Go Horse!

Brady is a better quarterback. Both have been able to be in the same system for a while but, Manning has had the same WR's. Brady's cast has continued to change. Brown, Givens, Branch, Gabriel, Jackson... and so on. To win with the regularity that Brady has with changing people is outstanding.

Peyton Manning is the better QB because, the question is who is the better QUARTERBACK. Not who has the better supporting cast. Manning pretty much wins football games on his own and beats Brady in pretty much every statistical catergory. Brady won 3 Superbowls because he had a wonderful defense, off line, and a killer supporting cast, if Manning was put in the same situation, he would be able to finish the deal as well and probably put up better numbers doing it.

TOM BRADY because he is a clutch quarterback who has the ability to make defenses ridicule....Besides having 3 Super Bowl Rings which I bet Peyton will never get, Brady is darn to calm under pressure and does not choke like Peyton. Hey Peyton, can you spell Super Bowl Ring???

peyton manning is an excellent REGULAR season quarterback....but you have to think on tom brady can actually win the big games, something peyton couldnt even do in his college days at tennessee. as good as peyton is, 3 super bowl rings speaks much louder than bowing out at no further than the afc championship......so tom brady is the better quarterback
