I am trying to help a friend, she accidentally clicked on the link, get the virus rightaway. Norton antivirus unable to detect if there was any virus in her computer. But I get her spam msgs in YM all the time. Isn't those spam msgs are virus?

a) Don't click as many virus/malware steal other email addresses and user ID's to send their payloads.

b) your standard AV (anti-virus) won't pick these up as they are malware not viruses. You'll need something like Ewido or AdAware for that :)

Scan the computer with your antivirus. Do not click any links from any one in IM. Those bogus links are a worm that is spreading around.
