I presume, in this case, that it means there are several steps in between this general equation, which is the equation for photosynthesis.

I agree with the chem teacher. 2 arrows pointing the same way means the reaction proceeds via a number of steps and not just a single step

6CO2+6H20->-> C6H12O6+O2

This reaction cannot occur. Combustion of sugar to carbon dioxide and water is irreversible.

When there are double arrows, each pointing opposite ways, that reaction is reversible. When there is only a single arrow, then there is a very strong acid or base involved and the reaction is irreversible.

It is a resume of the total photosynthesis process: 6 molecules of CO2 and of H2O being used in the biosynthesis of one molecule of glucose, liberating one molecule of oxygen. It shows only the first substrates and the last products.
It means that it is a very complex process involving many different metabolic pathways, enzymes and plant cell organelles.
