Dreams come from your sub-conscious. They are just a way for your mind to "keep the wheels turning" while your conscious mind is 'switched off'. It takes bits and pieces of memory and perhaps imagination and creates structure because your subconscious never shut off. The dreams can often be rooted in your concerns and desires because this is what your conscious mind works on all day.
Essentially, the dream 'means' nothing.

there are a whole lot of books about dream interpretation, a whole lot of websites and even more research has been done, but what the research has shown is that no one knows what dreams mean. the most accepted answer for dream interpretation is that it is a personal thing.......i.e. it means what your gut feeling tells you it means.
also shown in research on dreams is the following:
dreams occur when our brain goes into a deep enough sleep to get rest.
REM sleep is NOT when dreams occur, they actually occur after REM sleep has just ended.
dreams appear to be bits of memories and a whole lot of imagination as the brain is working to log new information and store it in your memory.
prior interpretation models are merely a representation of what the proponent of the model felt and thought based on their own personal experience and the cultural norms of the time. the research into what the meaning of different symbols in dreams meant done by that theorist were all geared toward finding the answer they wanted to find.......example: flying means freedom, phalic symbols are about power, etc.
or maybe you just have the hots for her

Dreams are a part of your memory pieceing things together to either 1) just entertain its self and keeep your mind going and 2) to warn you about threats you dont see strait forwardly like an early warning system about people who dont like you or want you hurt. Also pay very close attention to your dreams

I see dreams as what you want to be. Your true self and what you want.
