I know you're tired of different answers, but I'm stepping in to help you. :-)

If he's getting a 3% raise, he's going to get an additional $6.50 * 0.03 = $0.20 (rounded).

This is how much more per hour he will receive!

Your question doesn't indicate if you are supposed to give the exact amount (which would be 19.5 cents) or the amount rounded to the nearest cent (which would be 20 cents).

Good luck!

How much more per hour: 3% of $6.50 is the same as 0.03 x $6.50 which equals $0.195. We have to round this up to $0.20 or 20 cents. He will make 20 cents more per hour after getting the raise.

How much after the raise: $6.50 is 100% of what he makes now. After the 3% raise, he will make 103% of what he makes now. So, 103% of $6.50 is the same as 1.03 x $6.50, which equals $6.695. We have to round this up to $6.70, so he will be making $6.70 per hour after the raise.

Check the answer: The original $6.50 per hour plus the 20 cent raise we calculated in step one above adds up to $6.70

SIMPLE : $0.195
believe me im sure of it.. dont get confused its simple.
David is getting a 3% raise which means he gets 3% of $6.5 every hour which is.. 3x6.5/100 = 0.195.
Thats a 19.5cents.. u could round it off to 19c or 20c if u like

there u have it...

I guarantee you that my method is faultless and will yield the right answer. Don't fret!
Salary = $6.5
Raise% = 3
Raise = (3*6.5)/100
= 19.5/100
= $0.195
David will receive $0.195 extra each hour
Total amount after raise = $6.5 + $0.195
= $6.695
Totally he'll receive $6.695 per hour after the raise.

6.50 x .03 = .195
Round .195 to the nearest cent (.20). This represents the dollar amount of the raise.

Add the initial pay rate and the dollar amount of the raise together.
6.50 + .20 = $6.70

David's new hourly rate will be $6.70.

Hi,

Rather than answer the question again, let me give you some advice.

The correct answer is there, and the best way to isolate it is to check and see how many times the same answer comes up. That should be it!

Hope that helps.

3%=.03
.03*$6.50=$.195 or 19.5 cents per hour. It will probably be rounded. If he's lucky he'll get 20 cents per hour more. If not 19 cents per hour more.

new rate will be $6.70 or $6.69 per hour.
