You can major in anything. In fact, medical schools are constantly looking for well-rounded individuals who have majored in humanities, languages and social studies. As a pre-med student (remember that pre-med is not a major, it's a program that will prepare you to apply to med school) you will need to take Biology, Chemistry (Organic and General), Physics and Math courses, so you will definitely have to study science courses in addition to your major courses. Some successful pre-med students have majored in Philosophy and minored in Biochemistry studying ethics and science and the effects of each in society.

Pre-med is not a major. You can apply to med school with any major, but you will be expected to take two semesters of general and organic chemistry, general biology, general physics, English and Calculus (or one semester Calculus and one semester Statistics). The courses you are taking as a biology major should help you meet most of these requirements. Read the link below for more information. Read through all the sections under Pre-med requirements, because it's not just your classes that med schools will be looking at.

You need a 4 year degree prior to entering medical school. You can try major in any science, such as Chemistry or Biology is the most common.

You also have to major in physics believe it or not. Even though it has nothing to do with medicine, it is part of the test that you are going to take to get into medical school. You also have to take calculus. This is coming from a person who lives in Canada. I don't know what the requirements are for the US. But you can ask a doctor about it. It would help. That's how I got my information. Hope this helps.
