Artifacts can be assumed as ancient, or something lost then found in the bottom of a junk drawer. They may also be socially, culturally, archeologically, spiritually, financially valid and viable.

Look around you. Everything you see or touch that is used by people is an artifact. The really old ones get put in museums. If somebody a thousand years from now found your blow-dryer, they might put it in a museum and tell people that it was some kind of weapon.

Artifacts are records of the past. People make things,build things and throw things away. When we study ancient civilizations, we can get pretty accurate information my studying their (excuse my language) crap. Pieces of a broken mug, jewelry, preserved texts and so on tell us how people live. Artifacts are the key to understanding our past.

there's actually two kinds. artifacts and antartifacts. the first is from the north pole, the second from the south. artifacts are like eskimo harpoons and mukluks. antartifacts are like old pepsi bottles.
