You're never too old. There isn't an age limit on learning an instrument. I learned piano when I was about 11 and guitar when I was about 15.
My great uncle learned how to play the guitar when he was about 30 or so and he just learned how to play the ukolele about 2 years ago, when he was about 60.

You're never too old to learn how to play an instrument! I'm about you're age and I'm learning how to play the oboe. It is easier when you know what the notes and dynamics are and everything, but you can learn them while learning to play the guitar, too. Anyway, aren't guitar notes different from piano notes? I don't really know. So, go and make some music!

THIS IS RIGHT UP MY ALLEY..... I think you are at the perfect age to start learning the guitar. I started when I was about 10. My dad bought me my first guitar and a book. I've always had music in my life, so I've played "by ear". I took that book, and looked at the fingering charts and figured out the chords without an instructor. I would learn the basic chords: C G D Am Em. I would listen to the songs that I could play along with that had those chords in the songs. After a while, I could hear a song and figure out if I could play it. My guitar was my outlet as I was growing up, it was always there for me to practice on. It was something I loved to do. I am now 47! I still play, and it is still my favorite past time, especially when jammin with friends!
Go for it. You can find a guitar to learn on for about $100. A good guitar book of chords, about $10-$20. Small investment for a life-long companion. Good luck!

First of all....It's never too old to learn anything!!!
It might be easier if you can read music, but even if you can't you should go for it anyway!! When I was your age, my Dad tried to teach me guitar. I got so frustrated and angry, so I gave up. Now I am almost 30 and the beginning of next year I will be officially starting lessons. I regret it all the time that I didn't try harder and stick with it. You are at a perfect age to learn and as I said, you never stop learning you are never to old!! Best of luck to you I'm sure you will do great!!!

So long as your hands and fingers are not incapacitated, you're never too old to learn to play the guitar. Even us oldies having arthritic hands continue to play. Often, my left fingertips grow numb when fingering the fretboard. When that happens, I simply lower the headstock as low as I can to get the blood flowing and keep on plunkin'.

You are definitely young and you're never too old to learn how to play the guitar. As long as you have the interest and your hand and fingers are able, you're good to go! I learned how to play the guitar at thirteen years old. Good luck!

When you can no longer move your fingers or hold the guitar, then you are too old.
If you want to learn, talk to your parents about lessons. Some high schools have lessons, check it out.
