First off, she has to be evaluated by a doctor. He will be able to determine what the cause of these things are. There's alot of reasons why baby's can have hard bowel movements ( gas ), and spits up and alot of reasons why they have rashes. And whatever you do, please do not give your child table syrup. Your family may disagree that you don't want to give your child that, because it's what people used to believe. I hope your little one feels better soon and you have things figured out. It really could be nothing, but it's always better to get it checked out.

I am a Doula and a Certified Lactation Consultant. Some babies spit up a lot. As long as she is gaining weight at a regular rate she is fine. How much are you feeding her? An infants stomoch is only about the size of her fist...not very big. Are her bowel movements hard? If not, she is NOT constipated. I wouldn't recommend putting anything in her bottle. She may only become dependant on syrup to have a bowel movement. I don't recommend changing her formula excessively either. This could cause undue stress on her little tummy. Lots of babies have acne. Try using a gentle detergent and mild soap for bathtime. All of these things will usually clear up on their own. If your concerned for your baby's health or well being don't be afraid to call her Doctor. That's what they are there for.

Well if you think she has an formula allergy or she's having a funny reaction to it, switch her formulas, and let her doctor know. Believe me, I had to switch my baby back and forth between 5 formulas. But Enfamil Nutramigen is a hypo allergenic formula and it's easier to digest for the baby it's a non-milk formula and it has a pungent smell to it, but that's how it smells and the baby is gonna drink it regardless. I'm warning you, it will make her have more bowel movements because it breaks down pretty easy, so it will relieve her constipation. And when you breastfeed, her bowel will be runny and plus because she was younger too. And if she's spitting up a lot, I don't know if you're bouncing her around after the feedings, or she might have reflux. Let me tell you, my daughter was a preemie (yes I am black.) and she had some issues with her bowel movements and taking certain formulas. Usually when they come off the breast to formula formula is more constipative compared to breastmilk. If she is having pain going to the bathroom, give her an infant suppository by Fleet(baby lax), and you have to put it up her butt, and I almost cried having to do it, but you have to do it if she hasn't pooped in a few days. Make sure when you do it you hold her legs together when you do it.. she'll cry because of the pressure, but she'll go instanly... All I can say is you need to go to the doctor and have it checked out. Unless one of your inlaws happen to be a pediatrician, you need to take her and let them make those kinda calls because you don't want it to get worse. But you definetly need to get her an infant suppository, not an adult one... go to any drugstore and they have them.
2. definetly change her formula to Nutramigen and if you're on Wic-i don't know im not trying to say anything, but get a prescription from the doctor and take it up to the wic office. But don't give her no gas medicine that may be breaking her out, and I don't think people kissing on her will make her break out but she will definetly get a cold, but you need to stop lettin everyone kiss on your baby.. relative or not. Hope that helps.

Congrats. I have a new born also and the same thing happened after my breast dried up (he was in the NICU too long). Take her to the doctor it could be nothing but still have it checked. My son had to have his formula changed three times and they found out that he has GERD. I thought his bumps were baby acne but the doctor said it is something else and it will go away on it's own ( by 4 months of age) and to just wash it with dove and warm water 3 times a day. It is pissing me off so when he goes for his 2 month check up I am going to ask her to look at it again.Good luck believe me I know the frustration.

Sure sounds like an allergy to me, but I am just a mother, I would get her to an allergist and find out! Try using a soy based formula in the mean time and see if that makes a difference. I was allergic to my mother's breast milk as an infant and today am still lactose intolerant. Both my son's as well. Good Luck!

It does sound like a milk allergy or sensitivity. They can cause all of the above symptoms including the rash. Try switching to a soy (isomil, prosobee, good start soy) or a hypoallergenic formula(alumentim, Neocate, Nutramigen). I am trying to find the right formula for my daughter so I have been doing a lot of reasearch. We have switched her several times. She is almost 1 and has had a lot of trouble with formula. She has a feeding tube so formula is her only source of food right now, so I have to find one that works. Good Luck with your little one.

My son had a very similar reaction to formula when he was born. I'm not sure if it's the same situation, I would definitely recommend having a doctor make the decision, but we went through a few different formulas (enfamil lipil, enfamil lactose free, enfamil pro-sobee, enfamil AR) - finally we tried enfamil Nutramigen and it worked. he is now 7 months old and only weighs 13 pounds. He's definitely on an upward curve, but it'll take some time.
Good Luck

Oh, poor babe! It sounds like a bit of colic, does she pull her knees up to her chest? I would try a different formula for sure, it sounds like there is perhaps too much iron in this one for her to handle. Call your pediatrician and ask for a low iron formula. As for the red bumps, sounds like "prickly heat" or maybe a reaction to her clothes, maybe something in the material. If it was a reaction to the formula, it would most likely be all over her body, not just the neck.
I wouldn't put any syrup in her bottle, a lot of the time they are not pasturized and she could end up with something very nasty! Good Luck!

Sounds like acid reflux. As for the breakout, I dont know exactly how old your baby is, but babies have acne very young, but it goes away. If it doesnt it may be eczema. The bowels will be nasty for a long time. You may need to ask the Dr if the baby can have Mylicon drops for the gas too.

I'm not totally sure, but I had a similar problem with the Similac formula. I also had this problem with the Enfimal Prosobee formula. Enfimal has a special formula for baby's that can't tolerate soy or milk formula. I can't seem to remember the name, but with your doctors OK you may want to give this stuff a try. I haven't tryed it personally, but have heard good things about it.
