Im asking this question because I've been seperated(as i've stated before)for a year.My estranged husband joined the military. While he was gone,he wrote me letters,he would call,he would say he missed me and that he loved me.As I wrote for my question, does the military make you re-evauluate your life and make you realize your mistakes?

The Military helps one to grow up really fast and face the REALITY of how hard daily life is -- especially when you are long ways away from your family and friends ... and you see what we all see.

I am a Viet Nam vet , and the military experience exposes you to
some experiences that make you change your mind about may things that in you formal life you would not even think about. Some people change for the best and some change for the worst. Perhaps the world will be a better place when no more armies and weapons be needed and we may turn our resources and efforts to understand and help each other. I hope that somewhere in this answer something might help you answer your own question.

I am in the military right now and to be honest it does espcially when you are risking your life every day. Before I was deployed I hardly ever told my parents I loved them or showed any real emotions to my girlfriends after I was gone for a while I started to realize these things and I went back to all my girlfriends I hurt and apologized and I called my parents every chance I got just to tell them that I loved them.

Yes!!!!!

I did many years.
They will break you down and tear your heart and soul from you. Then, when you bottom out they will take some more.
Then, they will build you to be a MAN. They will teach you to respect yourself. Teach you pride, honor, courage, commitment. They teach you a lot, in a very short time.

When you are alone, all alone, with no one, no family, no hometown buddies, you really think.

it all depends on what youve gone through in your life already. the military offers insite just like any drastic situation. but from what ive experienced it allows you to grow up by sharing the horror of reality.

I think the military "pushes" the soldiers to mend their fences before going overseas. Handle their business, find closure etc etc before being deployed.
