There isn't a girl in Weetus, so your mate is mistaken.
It is the guy singing.
There was a girl miming in the video though.

You're talking about the end bit of the video aren't you when they're at the ball. I've just watched this right now and it is DEFINITELY a girl. It's Mena Suvari walking up to Jason Biggs and mouthing the words (it's from American Pie). Yes it's a bloke who is the lead singer of the actual band and is really singing the words, but it is the girl's words that are being sung - that's why he's doing it in a squeaky voice!

I think your mate got confused because of the music video. In the music video they have a girl (mena suvari) mouthing the squeeky part but the singer from wheatus is actually the one who sings it, he just made his voice higher.
